The Seagulls Have Landed
We walk Crown Hill park multiple times a week. This year we’ve noticed some different wildlife from previous years. For example, last year there was a big fuss about all the coyotes in the park. All winter long you could see them trying to sneak up on the geese on the frozen lake or trotting through the snowy fields. This year, I haven’t seen a single one. Speaking of geese, the lake was always a roost for Canada geese, but this year we’ve observed fewer geese. Instead we seem to have an invasion of sea gulls! Never seen them here before, not in these numbers anyway. Wonder what all these shifts might mean for the overall ecosystem in the park. (You can see them all as flecks of white on the water in the photo below.)
Before we set out on our walk, Grey was passing the time singing in his Osprey Poco Plus Backpack. He was mixing some humming sounds and clicking of his tongue and some nonsense words into a really fun jam. Of course he noticed when I started filming and stopped the show.
