Baby Free Weekend in Carbondale!

You may have read in previous posts about the “Baby Trade” system I’ve set up with a couple other moms on my street. While we do enjoy our “free” time to grocery shop, cook, and clean without a toddler slowing us down, the brief visits we get with each other during drop offs and pick ups don’t actually give us much time to maintain a quality friendship.

Thankfully Molly’s in-laws has an extra cabin on their property in Carbondale that we could crash in for a baby free weekend.

March is the start of what mountain folk fondly call Mud Season. So in the lead up to this trip, I had bags packed for either cross country skiing with my Rossignols or mountain biking with my Pearl Izumi bike shorts and gloves.

Considering I had just spent the morning shoveling about a foot of snow off my deck, the ski bag is the one that got packed.

But once we crossed Vail Pass and started to descend into the Western Slope area, we were dismayed to realize that all the snow had apparently only dropped East of the Continental Divide.

So…. we sure enough started the weekend enjoying MUD season in our hiking boots up to this little overlook just to stretch our legs after the car ride. But tomorrow was another day…
